Where do you get your work ethic from?

During a recent interview, I was asked: “Where do you get your work ethic from?” Here is how I responded:
My work ethic isn’t rooted in just one source. Initially, I was heavily influenced by my parents, both known for their strong work ethic. Over the years, my understanding of work principles grew from what I observed and experienced during my upbringing, including interactions with others, cultural influences, and academic or professional experiences. Naturally, some personal traits also contributed. I remind myself that a solid work ethic doesn’t mean running nonstop or always feeling stressed about work. Instead, it reflects a set of personal values, beliefs, and behaviors that shape how I approach my tasks. My work ethic is motivated by dedication, passion, and enjoyment in what I do.

Interview & Italy travel tips

Recently, I was interviewed by Marji De Las Alas from Vuela about my work as both, a jewelry designer and a marine biologist. She also asked me to share some tips about the Italian region of Umbria where my parents live. So, here it is. Enjoy!

An interview for Vuela about my marine biology + jewelry work, and my time in the Umbrian countryside. In the pics, I wear a floral Sissel Edelbo dress (pic on top), a Lemuria dress in sand color in the town of Solomeo restored by Brunello Cucinelli, and a striped ME+EM top (pic on bottom)

The layered jewelry look

I don’t usually post many pictures of myself wearing my eponymous handcrafted jewelry but I couldn’t resist to share this colorful pic shot in Los Angeles. Here, I mixed and matched several pieces from my textile and metal jewelry collections. I believe it’s always best to overlap long and short necklaces for a different look with a bit of edge. Bracelets and rings must be original and… they need to make a statement! As always, one can see the influences of nature in my handmade work.
